William Roderick Giles, Jr.
William (Roddy) Giles Jr. of East Orange, N.J. passed away peacefully September 5, 2020 at the age of 72. He was the son of William Giles Sr. and Althea Giles, born in Orange, N.J. on February 14, 1948. Roddy attended Ashland Elementary School and East Orange High School and continued his education as the first African American at West Orange Mountain High School, where he graduated in 1965. He also attended Howard University and Benedict College. Roddy’s travels brought him to Los Angeles and Atlanta before returning to NJ to work as a Promotional Sales Manager in the family business of Executron Products and EPC International Inc. In 1977 he married Gerri Goodman and in 1980 William R. Giles III was born. He was a loving father to his daughters Amber Nicole, and Tiffany Briana. He expressed a special joy in being a grandfather to Bryanna and Lucy.
After many years he relocated and returned to his favorite city, Atlanta, Georgia. Roddy continued relationships with extended family William S. Cannon V, David Morrow and family, and Sanford Irwin and family, Top Atlanta Cousin Derek East. Roddy is survived by his son William R. Giles III, daughters Amber Nicole, Tiffany Briana, granddaughters Bryanna and Lucy sister Sharon Giles, nephews Will and Jayson Alexander; Eric Giles and niece Erika Giles, Aunt Lena East, as well as a host of special cousins , relatives, friends and best friends Charles Jordan & Chuck Jones.
