Mr. Roosevelt Taylor of Atlanta, Georgia passed on April 12, 2021. Funeral Services will take place on Friday, April 16, 2021 at 11:00 am at Lincoln Cemetery Chapel 2275 Joseph E. Boone Blvd NW. Atlanta, GA 30314.
Viewing will take place on Thursday, April 15, 2021 from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm at the Carl M. Williams Funeral Directors Chapel, 492 Larkin Street, SW. Atlanta, GA. 30313.
Roosevelt Taylor was born in Laurens County, Georgia on April 9, 1930. He passed peaceably into eternal rest on April 11, 2021 When he was seven years old, he joined First Baptist Church in Dublin Georgia under the leadership of Rev. Nathaniel Young. After moving to Atlanta, he joined Mt. Moriah Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev R. Julian Smith. There he faithfully served God as an usher, trustee, and deacon. He remained an active and faithful member until his death.
Roosevelt received his primary education at Dublin Elementary school and his secondary education at Booker T Washington High School in Atlanta. He graduated in 1949. After graduation he served in the United States Army until being honorably discharged in 1953. Roosevelt began his studies at Clark College while beginning his career at Lockheed Aircraft. He graduated Clark College in June of 1959. He retired from Lockheed Aircraft in June of 1993.
Roosevelt enjoyed photography. He used his skills and talents in this area to create and operate R. Taylor and Associates. His motto was: “The Fondest Memory is the Picture”
Roosevelt was a member founding member of the National Pinochle Association and the Atlanta Pinochle Association. He was also a faithful member who often served as a leader in the following groups: Booker T Washington Class of 1949 Foundation, Clark College Boosters, The Frontiersmen’s and Greater Atlanta Bowling Association.
Roosevelt cherished his time with his family. He is survived by the love of his life Edith Stephens Taylor, daughters Parada E. Wilson (Sam), Cecelya A Taylor, Gena M Taylor, niece Sherria Powell, granddaughter Nicole Rocquemore, grandson Andrew Battle, and a host of cousins and extended family members.
