Nita was born December 6, 1931 to the union of the late Edgar B. Johnson and Isabell Butler Johnson Dooley.  She was educated at Walker Street Elementary School and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1949 in Atlanta, Georgia. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Thomas Brantley and Curtis Williams. She nurtured five daughters and one son.  She worked for the main Post Office in Downtown Atlanta and Martech Station on Marietta Street in Atlanta retiring from the United States Post Office after 30 years of service in 1999.  Nita was a longtime member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church singing in the choir.  She was an outgoing person and enjoyed bowling and being a member of the Kings and Queens Bowling Club.  She bowled in a variety of bowling leagues and tournaments. She enjoyed playing bingo, spades and whisk cards and was an expert horseshoe player when she still had her sight.  Though she was born with retinitis pigmentosa a chronic hereditary eye disease resulting in blindness, she never complained or limited herself because of her condition.  During her 18-year residency at Trinity Towers in Atlanta, Georgia she served faithfully as the President of the Residential Association for several years.  She was preceded by daughters the late Eddeena L. Cox (Nolen) and the late Gina M. Brantley; she leaves to cherish her memories five decades: three daughters, Clarice G. Mackie of Atlanta, Georgia, Rev. Vicki J. Alston (Marvin) of Columbus, Georgia and Kathy C. Rawls, Woodbury, Georgia; one son Cecil L. Johnson of Lagrange, Georgia, sisters Delores Buggs of  Stone Mountain, Georgia  and Joyce Hunter of Scottdale Georgia,  one cousin Emanuel Lee Smith Shepard, Atlanta, Georgia,  eighteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren, three niece, four nephews, three great nieces; and a host of friends and loved ones.
