Funeral Service for Mrs. Velma Moultrie will be held Friday, April 24, 2026, at 1:00pm at Friendship Baptist Church, 80 Walnut Street, SW, Atlanta, Georgia 30314. The Omega Omega Service of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will be held at the funeral home at 10:00am, the morning of the service. Interment, Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 12 Noon at Haynesville Baptist Church Cemetery, 344 Pitts Road, Hawkinsville, Georgia 31036.

Velma O’Brien Thomas Moultrie, born December 19, 1947. Inspired by a family legacy of service and education, Velma broke barriers as the first Black female employed at George Decor Manufacturing Company and later became the first female auditor in the Atlanta office of Arthur Andersen. A proud Albany State College graduate and devoted member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, she dedicated her life to civil rights, faith, and community service. Velma was married for 49 years to the late Alton J. Moultrie. She passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026, and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
