Tyree Warner Whitney
Mr. Tyree Warner Whitney of 5440 Red Berry Lane, Southwest, Atlanta, Georgia passed away on December 4, 2013.
Mr. Tyree Warner Whitney was born to Augustus and Marion Whitney on December 17, 1947 in Atlanta, Ga. At the age of 13, he was baptized at Antioch Baptist Church. After graduating from Booker T. Washington in 1966, Tyree enrolled in the U.S. Army on September 25, 1967-November 22,1970. He was honored with Army Achievement Medal, the Army Commendation Medal during his time in the reserves 1981-1985.
Mr. Whitney attended Atlanta Junior College then started a career with Western Electric, now Bell south. He also worked with Turner Broadcasting Security and Thorpe Enterprises. With Thorpe he was awarded Attendance, Teamwork, and Attitude honors.
Mr. Tyree Whitney enjoyed traveling, collecting,was a historian, he loved coming up with new ideas and inventions, LOVED music, loved life, and was a Christian man with a contagious laugh.
Mr. Tyree Whitney is survived by his brother, Bobby (Peggy) Whitney; sister, Sandra (Lewis) Manns; longtime friend and companion, Ms. Jacquelyn Sims; three children, Wyndell, Catherine and Simone Whitney; two nieces, Shannon Mann and Kimberly Thomas; nephew, Micheal (Brandi) Whitney; a host of relatives and friends.
The Funeral Service for Mr. Tyree Warner Whitney will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 11:00AM in the chapel of Carl M. Williams Funeral Directors, Inc. Interment, Georgia National Cemetery. Friends are asked to assemble at the chapel at 10:30AM on the morning of the service.
