Mrs. Sallie Emily Stokes of Atlanta, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2016.

Funeral service for Mrs. Sallie Emily Stokes will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 12:00Noon at Big Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 220 Auburn Avenue, Northeast with Dr. John Foster, Ph.D., Senior Pastor, officiating and Reverend Willie Langley, Eulogist.  Interment, Greenwood Cemetery. The remains will be placed in state at the church at 11:00AM on the morning of the service.

The Ivy Beyond the Wall Ceremony of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. will be held on Friday, June 10, 2016 at 6:00PM in the chapel  of Carl M. Williams Funeral Directors, Inc., 492 Larkin Street, Southwest with visitation to follow from 6:30PM to 7:30PM.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Smith and Bessie Jones; husband, Charlie Stokes; and her sisters, Janie Jones Johnson and Beulah Jones Tipton.  She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Karl Stokes; sister and brother-in-law, Sally and James Day; nieces and nephews, Deborah Ann Pascal (Ronnie), Wayne Johnson, Gregory Tipton (Janice), Terri Lynn Day, Larry Varner, Laveda Varner Johnson; a host of other relatives and friends.
