A Life Well Lived is a Legacy Fulfilled

Obituary

Rochelle Dewberry

Rochelle Dewberry, a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and godmother, passed away peacefully, joining her loved ones in eternal rest. She was born on July 28, 1934, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Bessie Lee and the late Henry Logan.

On February 27, 1950, Rochelle wed James Dewberry, beginning a devoted union that spanned 51 years and produced four cherished children. Rochelle dedicated her professional life to serving her community, working for the Atlanta Board of Education as a secretary for many years until her retirement in 1995.

Rochelle's retirement years were vibrant and fulfilling, marked by her joyful participation in the line dance group at Quality Living Services (QLS). It was through QLS that she discovered a passion for acting, which culminated in a truly memorable achievement: a role in the Tyler Perry movie, Daddy's Little Girls. This experience brought her immense pride and excitement, a testament to her adventurous spirit.

Rochelle is preceded in death by her devoted husband, James Dewberry; her parents, Bessie Lee and Henry Logan; her stepfather, J.D. Lawrence; and her son, Kevin Dewberry.

Her memory will be eternally cherished by her surviving children: James Jr. (Phyllis), Janice, and Kirk (Dana). She leaves behind a magnificent legacy in her ten grandchildren: Kareem (Kim), James (Sina), Simeon, Courtney, Brittany (Nathan), Keviny (Scott), Kelly, Kyle, Kameron, and Schyler. Rochelle also delighted in the love of seven great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren, who brought light to her later years. She is fondly remembered by her brother-in-law, Bufus (Alpha); two special cousins, Sharon Hood and Geraldine Todd; and her goddaughter, Marcia Bennett, along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Rochelle Dewberry's infectious spirit, her dedication to her family, and her love of the arts will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith - 2 Timothy 4:7
