Richard Dodson

Mr. Richard Dodson of Atlanta, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Optim Medical Center in Reidsville, Georgia.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 12:00Noon at the Chapel of Carl M. Williams Funeral Directors, Inc. with Rev. Eddie Bright, officiating.  Interment, Carver Memorial Gardens, Riverdale, Georgia.

He was the son of the late Nettie Dodson Mayfield and was born on May 5, 1940 in Atlanta, GA.  Richard grew up in the Pittsburg Community where he attended W.H. Crogman Elementary and L.J. Price High School.  At an early age, he joined Iconium Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. D.A. Dixon.  He was active in Sunday School and youth activities.

For many years, Richard worked as a courier for several local businesses,  Richard was a loveable and kindhearted person and grw up in a very loving family.  He love to dance and socialize with friends.  He believed in church and putting God first in his life.

On Tuesday, October 28, 2014, Richard was called home by our heavenly Father.  He will be greatly missed and joyfully remembered by those who knew and loved him.  To his family, he gave his best always expressing love for each one, through thoughtful deeds, kind words and faith in God.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and brother, C.T. Dodson.  He leaves to cherish his memory, his aunt and uncle, James and Anne Cleveland; aunt, Hattie Dodson; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Dodson; nieces and nephew, Gayla Dodson and Anthony Dodson; cousins, Shirley Butler, John and Derek Cleveland and numerous relatives and friends.
