Phyllis Gail Rogers
Phyllis Gail Rogers was born on May 5, 1943, the second of three children of Rita House Rogers and Julian Emory Rogers of Atlanta.
She grew up in the family home on Ashby Grove S.W., always surrounded by relatives and close friends. Phyllis attended E. R. Carter Elementary School and Booker T. Washington High School, graduating in 1961. She continued her education at Clark College and Tennessee State University.
Following her return to Atlanta she was employed by AT&T in the engineering division where she worked for 25 years and traveled frequently. She later retired and lived in Decatur, Georgia until her passing. She weathered many health issues for several years but finally succumbed to illness on December 21, 2013.
She is survived by her Sister, Judy Rogers Williams and Brother, Julian House Rogers, Niece Tatia L. Williams, Brothers-in-law, Robert H. Williams and James W. Beverage, her Aunt Jessie Rogers, a number of cousins and many devoted friends and surrogate family members.
A memorial service will be held at Friendship Baptist Church, 437 Mitchell Street, Southwest, Atlanta at 3:30PM on Saturday, January 25, 2014. A repast will follow in the Fellowship Hall.
