Mr. Marvin Lorenzo Woodard "Starvin Marvin" was born on August 26, 1952 in Atlanta, Georgia (Fulton County) to the late Alfred Campbell and Katherine Woodard.
On Tuesday, January 22, 2013, Marvin began his rest to await the resurrection promised by God.
Marvin was a loving, caring, and giving person. He matriculated through the Atlanta Public Schools, where he attended David T. Howard High School. He especially loved to work. He worked as a union carpenter for 30 years and a member of the Local 225.
Marvin will truly be missed. He was preceded in death by his sister Barbara.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory a devoted wife, Peggy Smith Woodard; children, Chenard, Chloe and Codiro; grandchildren, Kenard, Cheletha and Destinee; sisters, Barbara and Helen Echols; fathers-in-law and mothers-in-law, Michelle Lawrence of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Taylor (Debbie) and Barbara Jackson; two brothers-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Smith (Gloria) and John H. Smith, III; six nieces, Tamara, Tacomsi, Whitney, DaRae, Naivasha and Kamilah; nephews, Dallas, Benjamin and Samuel; aunt, Pearl Woodard of Camden, New Jersey; cousins, Sylvia Huff of Locust Grove, Georgia, Helen Woodall of Atlanta, Georgia, Celestine Brooks of Philadelphia, PA and Jerry Anderson of Camden New Jersey; a play son, Gerald Mabry (Young Blood); play mother, Ira Fisher and a host of other relatives and friends.
The Celebration of Life in Memory of "Starvin Marvin" will be held on Monday, January 28, 2013 at 11:30AM in the chapel of Carl M. Williams Funeral Directors, Inc.
