Mrs. Lula Pearl Whatley

Mrs. Lula Pearl Lundy Whatley of Atlanta passed away, Friday, October 28, 2016.

Funeral service for Mrs. Lula Pearl Whatley will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Providence Missionary Baptist Church, 2295 Benjamin E. Mays Drive, Southwest with Reverend Damon P. Williams, PhD, Senior Pastor, officiating.  Interment, Lincoln Cemetery.  The remains will be placed in state at the church at 10:00 a.m.

The Ivy Beyond The Wall Ceremony of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. will be held Monday, October 31, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Providence Missionary Baptist Church.

Lula Pearl Lundy was born to Lula Fuller Lunday and Willie Wesley Lunday on January 22, 1923.  She was the fourth of fifteen children.  Lula married the love of her life, Ison W. Whatley, Sr. (deceased) in 1948, and together had three children, Waddell, Jr. (deceased), Ronald, and Roslyn.  Lula earned a BS degree from Spelman College, Class of '44 and continued graduate studies at Atlanta University.  She dedicated 40 years of service, 27 of which were in Atlanta Public Schools and Atlanta Area Tech., where  she was Coordinator of Food Service Training and Adult Education.  She as a member of several educational and civic organizations, to include Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.  Lula leaves to cherish many fond memories, a son, Ronald Whatley; daughter, Roslyn Lumpkin (Clarence); two granddaughters, Angeron Hackney (Erin) and Reyanna Lee (KaTanya); four sisters, Wilma Sherman (Charlie-deceased), Sarah Simpson (Eugene-deceased), Alpha Dewberry (Bufus), and Patricia Florence (Perry); godson, Derrick Marks; goddaughter, Marie Bivins (C. Vann) and a multitude of caring nieces, nephews, and friends.

Family and friends are requested to assemble at the church at 10:30 a.m. on the morning of the service.
