James Kinsey
Mr. James Edward Kinsey, 77, of Atlanta, Georgia, passed September 25, 2025, after an extended illness. Born September 22, 1948, to the late King Edward and Lucy Ann Johnson Kinsey. James was a lifelong advocate for education and achievement.
A graduate of Booker T. Washington High School (1966), Morehouse College (B.A. Mathematics, 1970), and Carnegie Mellon University (M.S. Business Administration, 1972), James dedicated his career to hospital administration, before later becoming a CPA and operating his own accounting business.
James enjoyed reading the newspaper, cheering on the Atlanta Hawks, and listening to jazz. He believed strongly in the power of education and encouraged those around him to pursue knowledge with passion and persistence.
Funeral service will be held on Monday October 6, 2025 at 11 a.m. at New Life Presbyterian Church, 6600 Old National Highway, Atlanta, GA, Rev. Hodari Williams, Pastor, Rev. Carlton Johnson, officiating. Interment, Carver Memorial Gardens. The remains will be placed in state at the church at 10 a.m. The public viewing will be on Sunday, October 5, 2025 from 1 to 5 p.m.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Bernice Ford and Mary L. Keene. He leaves behind his wife, Earline Kinsey; daughter, Dr. Kristi Nicole Kinsey Gotier (Rogers); son, James Michael Kinsey; sisters, Delores Broughton; grandchildren, Rogers "Trey" Fulcher Gotier III. and Ross Kristopher Gotier; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
James's life was defined by devotion to family, excellence in work, and the joy of simple pleasures. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
