Jacqueline L. Snowden

Mrs. Jacqueline Lorraine Snowden of Duluth, GA, passed away peacefully in Duluth, Georgia on Saturday, September 6th, 2025, at the age of 89. She is survived by her beloved children; Dr. Tracy Jacqueline Snowden of Duluth, Georgia and Forrest Charles Snowden of Accra, Ghana; grandsons Xavier Snowden of NYC, Xander Snowden of West Lafayette, IN (Purdue Univ) and Xion Snowden of Tempe, AZ (Arizona State Univ). Her siblings, Albert "Junie" Coleman of Maple Grove, Minnesota and Jean Henry (nee Coleman - deceased). Nieces include Bettina Henry, Yvette Johnson, Reneé Yancy, Nina Simmons and Meredith Mayo Brown. Nephews include Marc Coleman, Daryl Snowden, and Kelvin Johnson. Jackie's first cousin is Sherri Rivers of Lithonia, GA. There are also great nieces, great nephews, cousins and extended family. Of notable recognition is Ms. Betty McCain, Jackie's longtime dedicated, personal nurse of 18 years. Jacqueline was preceded in death by her beloved husband Parker Snowden on July 15, 2003. Jacqueline was born on September 8, 1935, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Albert and Irene Coleman (nee McCarthy) and was raised in Philadelphia. She was a graduate of Germantown High School and obtained her bachelor's degree in education from Cheney State teachers college.  She married Parker Snowden and worked as a special education teacher in New York. She later moved to New Hampshire where she was a substitute math teacher while raising her two young children. Jackie, as she was lovingly known by her family was past president of Kwanaza an African American organization in Portsmouth, NH. She was also a member of Jack and Jill of America Inc., and valued learning and higher education. Jackie was always known for her warm smile, giving heart, and infectious sense of dry humor. She was intellectual, witty, and had the best jokes. She was also an avid pinochle and game player. Graveside services will be held at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery in Atlanta, Georgia on September 18, 2025 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jacqueline's name can be made to The National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI).
