February 25, 1947 – March 15, 2026
Ms. Gwendolyn F. Clark, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, was the first of ten children born to Mrs. Catherine Hubbard Farmer and Mr. Richard Farmer, Sr. She was raised in Atlanta, Georgia, where she attended Georgia State University and majored in English.
Gwendolyn entered into matrimony, and from this union four children wee born. She was a devoted mother to Avana Clark-Battle, Derrick Clark, Devin Clark, and Tiffany Clark.
A faithful and dedicated servant, Sister Gwendolyn Clark served as Usher Board President for many years at Hills Avenue Baptist Church. She was known for her warm smile and her willingness to lend a helping hand to everyone she encountered.
Gwendolyn dedicated over 40 years to the City of Atlanta Bureau of Parks and Recreation before retiring. Throughout her career, she worked in several recreation centers, touching countless lives and making a lasting impact in her community.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Avana Clark-Battle, Derrick Clark, Devin Clark, and Tiffany Clark; her grandchildren, Gary Lewis, Danielle Evans, Lauren Clark, Krista Peterson, Ashley Clark, DeShaon Knox, KaMira McCloud, Aniyah Barnes, Anthony Barnes, Justin Rogers, Tairji Lewis, Zayne Knox and others; her siblings, Marcia Gail Farmer, Harriette F. Russell, and Jarryl Farmer; along with a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Gwendolyn's legacy if love, service, and kindness will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
First Missionary Baptist Church

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at 11 a.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church, 3725 Flat Shoals Rd., College Park, GA, Bishop C.L. Carter , Pastor, officiating. Interment Lincoln Cemetery. The remains will be placed in state at the church at 10 a.m. Public viewing will be on Monday, March 23, 2026 at our chapel from 1 to 6 p.m.
