Ellis Stephens, Jr.
Ellis J. Stephens, Jr., 67 of Phenix City, AL died in Atlanta, GA on Saturday, January 10, 2026. He was born in Columbus, GA, May 12,1958, to Ellis J. Stephens, Sr., and Beatrice Stephens. He was a very compassionate, friendly, and intelligent child. He was fondly called Ellis, Jr. by his family.
Ellis Jr., attended schools in Columbus Muscogee County, GA. He graduated from Hardaway High School in 1976 with honors and he was featured in Who's Who of America, 1976. Ellis, Jr. matriculated at Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, AL, where he was an active member of the Tuskegee University Marching Crimson Pipers Band.
He proudly served the citizens of Columbus Muscogee County Georgia as a police officer serving 30 plus years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his niece Domonique Stephens. He is survived by two brothers, Stanley Stephens (Sherry) of Jacksonville, FL, and Harold B. Stephens (Huntsville, AL). Two aunts, Annie Kate Stephens, and Ann Davis (Wallace) of Columbus, GA. A devoted cousin, Harry McBride Stephens and many other cousins, relatives, and friends.
The love that Ellis, Jr. spread will leave an imprint on the hearts of his loved ones, which is a testament of his spirit and the richness of his legacy.
