Dr. Ruth Hilson Pace, born February 4, 1932, in Enterprise, Alabama, transitioned peacefully into eternal rest on July 4, 2026. Guided by a lifelong creed of fairness, kindness, and love, she touched countless lives through her faith, service, and gentle strength.

A proud graduate of Morris Brown College and Atlanta University, Dr. Pace dedicated more than 36 years to the Atlanta Public School system as a teacher, administrator, and principal. She later returned to Morris Brown College as a professor and Director of Field Placement, shaping the next generation of educators. Her contributions to the Fulton County community spanned over four decades, including service on multiple commissions and a key role in developing The Emma Darnell Aviation Museum & Conference Center.

Dr. Pace was a founding member and past national and local president of Societas Docta, Inc., a leader in the John A. Middleton Education Foundation, and a devoted member of Allen Temple AME Church. A former coloratura soprano, she shared her musical gifts as a founding member of the Wendell P. Whalum Community Chorus. Her commitment to community service was recognized in 2025 with the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award from Joseph R. Biden, Jr.

Above all, Ruth treasured her family. She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Dana Karl Pace, Gerald Jarvis Pace, JD, and her daughter, Dr. Cindy Ruth Pace, and cherished extended family. Her legacy of grace, faith, and service will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 11:00 am at Friendship Baptist Church, 80 Walnut Street SW, Atlanta, GA 30314. Bishop Stafford Wicker, eulogist.
