Charlie A. Hurt

Mr. Charlie A. Hurt, owner of Charles Boutique and Retail Salon, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2014.

Funeral service for Mr. Charlie A. Hurt will be held Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 11 am at Headland Heights United Methodist Church, 2147 Dodson Dr., SW with Rev. George P. Lanier, pastor, officiating.  Interment,  Forest Lawn Cemetery.  The remains will be placed in state at the church at 10 am.  The family will receive friends this evening (Monday) at the church from 6 to 8 pm.  The cortege will assemble at the residence at 10 am.

Mr. Charlie (Charles) Andrews Hurt was born on April 8, 1940, in Baldwin County, Georgia to the late Mr. Louie Hurt and Lelia Lee. After the passing of his parents he was raised by the late Mr. & Mrs. Austin (Frances) L. Dennis Sr. of Eatonton, Georgia and graduated from Butler Baker School. After a battle with his health, Charles was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.

He left his home in Eatonton, GA to establish a new life in Atlanta, GA. He worked at, Davidsons, Piedmont Hospital and General Motors and then decided to attend school and establish a career. Charles Hurt is a graduate of Minosa Beauty School and Griffin Barber College and he believed in educating his clientele about their hair. He established his name in hair care by becoming the owner and operator of Charles Boutique and Retail Salon for over 45 years.

Charles was a faithful member at the Headland Heights United Methodist Church and served on the finance committee for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents Louie Hurt and Lelia Lee and then Austin and Frances Dennis Sr. Also his brothers Dorsey Hurt and Austin Dennis Jr.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory two daughters Pamela Y. Wilson and Pamela (Tony) Carter and his devoted and only grandson Kiel A. Wilson. Siblings Lyman Nicky (Lillian) Dennis, Frederick T. (Annie Ruth) Dennis, V. Dwain Dennis and Helen R. Dennis and Rosie Dennis sister in law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
