Celestine Z. (Camp) Patty affectionately known as Celeste, was the second child of Mayfield and Arnella Camp. She was born in Winder, Georgia on April 26, 1952. She was a graduate (Class of 1969) of Palmer Memorial Institute, Sedalia, North Carolina and a graduate (Class of 1972) of Morris Brown College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interior Design in 1972. She was an avid Morris Brown Alumnae and most proud to have served as a member of the Morris Brown Marching Wolverines, 1969-1972
Celeste began her career as a designer and window dresser for Rich's Department Store downtown, and Sears and Roebuck. She also worked and excelled as a sales person for New York Life Insurance Company for over 15 years, earning various achievement awards.
Baptized at White Oak Springs Baptist Church in Winder at an early age, Celeste later joined First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, in the 1980's. As a highly proficient and talented musician and singer, Celeste's beautiful alto voice could be heard on any given Sunday ad she performed or played with the Chancel Choir, Voices of Faith, or Bell Ringers of First Congregational Church from the time she joined the Church. Her love for all genre of music extended her membership to the Atlanta Jazz Chorus from it's time of inception.
Her love and commitment to her church and Church Family was enormous. Through the years, Celeste served as a Member-at-large on the Church Council and dedicated Music Ministry Librarian. She "hold the keys" to First Church, serving faithfully for almost 15 years as a part-time and later full-time Sexton of the church.
Celeste lived life to the fullest. She was determined, dedicated and dependable. She was direct, but tactful, knocked down many times, but never defeated. Her tenacious spirit is a testimony to all who are left behind to toil along this Christian journey.
