Dr. Benjamin Franklin Hudson, Jr., retired Dean of the School of Arts and Science of the former Atlanta University passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2013. Born on August 30, 1917 in Selma, Alabama, he was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin F. Hudson, Sr., Geneva Jackson, and Rachel Tarrant Hudson; wife Ellerne Webb Hudson and brother, Dr. Robert J. Hudson.
He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted son, Richard Byron Hudson; sisters, Mary H. McEwen, Rae H. Watkins and Ola G. Hudson, Nashville, TN, and Mabel H. Tipton, Warren, OH; brothers, Andrew A. Hudson, his devoted caretaker, William R. Hudson, Pomona, CA and Dr. Charles R. Hudson, Nashville, TN; sisters-in-law, Earline H. Hudson and Nelle C. Hudson, Nashville, TN, and Diane J. Hudson, Ponoma, CA; foster brother, Lee H. Pennington, Nashville, TN; thirteen nephews; twelve nieces; a large number of great and great-great nieces and nephews; cousins; other relatives; loving friends, including Dr. Earle Clowney, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Murray and family; very devoted caregiver Ms. Georgia Bell and Perry McCullough.
Visitation with the family will be held Thursday, August 29, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. until Noon at Friendship Baptist Church, 437 Mitchell Street, SW, Atlanta. Celebration of Life Services will commence immediately thereafter.
