Obituary

Barbara Laynette Teasley was born in Atlanta, GA to Norma Jeanette and Aaron B. Williams Jr. She was educated in Atlanta public schools, graduating from the esteemed Therrell High School in 1978 (a year early). While in High School Barbara participated in track and volleyball, but her source of pride was marching in ‘The Pride of Atlanta’ Marching Band as a majorette. She was a true southern belle grown in the heart Atlanta community, while training in dance and proudly becoming a debutante. Her athletic ability and leadership skills helped her excel as she entered the United States Army in 1979. She eventually retired from Active Duty in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1983. She continued her military career in the Army Reserve for 17 years, returning to active duty for Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. Barbara (SFC) served as an intelligence analyst, expert marksman, and received multiple military awards and commendations.

Barbara’s leadership and organizational skills served her well as she built careers at multiple Fortune 500 Companies to include Boeing, Rockwell, and Coca-Cola Bottling Company. She eventually transitioned to a career in healthcare with Grady Memorial Hospital and Optum Health. With every stop along her journey, she made lasting impressions and enduring friendships.

Barbara Teasley was proceeded in death by her sister Nicole Williams, aunt Joyce Thomas, and mother Norma Jeanette Williams. Barbara leaves to cherish her memories: Aaron B. Williams Jr (father), Aaron B. Williams III (brother), Ashley/Nikki & Raquel/Neisha Teasley (daughters), William Teasley Jr. (former spouse), Brandon and David Carneige (nephews) and a host of beloved cousins. Barbara is most proud of being grandmother to Morgan E. Heggie, light of her life.
