Obituary

Ms. Annie Martin Cox of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2013.

Annie Martin was born and raised in a section known as Methodist Hill in Greenville, Georgia on April 14, 1907. She was the second of three children born to Cora and Seymour Martin. Following the death of her father, she and her mother moved to Atlanta. Annie Martin met and married Fred Allen Cox on June 12, 1927. Annie and Fred Cox began their family with the birth of a son, Fred, Jr. (deceased). The son was followed by the successive births of three daughters, Doris, Willine and Ann.

Throughout her life, Annie Martin Cox was committed to rearing and enriching the lives of her family. She lived a life of total enjoyment that was centered around her family and friends. She was noted for always expressing appreciation for all deeds, with the words, "Thank you."

She and her family were active members of Central United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women. Well into her 90's, she was an avid participant in the Mosley Park Seniors Exercise Program. During national and local elections she worked at the voting polls.

Annie Martin Cox is survived by her three daughters, Doris Dearo, Willine Irby (Howard) and Ann Parham (Johnny); three grandchildren, Howard L. Irby, Jr. (Eunice), Derek C. Irby (Sarah) and Johnny E. Parham, III; four great-grandchildren, Derek C. Irby, Jr., Ingrid James Irby, Cole Milton Parham and Jack Kaden Parham; along with other family and friends.

Funeral Services for Ms. Annie Martin Cox will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 11:00AM at the Chapel of Carl M. Williams Funeral Directors, 492 Larkin Street, Southwest, Atlanta, Georgia with Reverend Byron E. Thomas of Central United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment, South-View Cemetery.

Friends are asked to assemble at the chapel at 10:30AM on the morning of the service.
