Reverend Andrew
Hall
Jun 5, 1928 — Aug 26, 2026
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” 2 Timothy 4:7 Reverend Andrew B. Hall of Atlanta, Georgia passed away August 26, 2026, and was blessed with 98 years of life. He was born in Woodland Georgia on June 5, 1928, to Walter and Deanna Hall. He was the 8th child of 10. His siblings were Willie Tyne (d), Georgia Ann (d), Walter Jr. (d), Samuel (d), Paul (d), Rev. Jesse Lee (d), Oscar (d), Elizabeth, and Louis (d). He grew up attending Friendship Baptist Church in Woodland, Georgia.
Andrew met and married Lillian P. Hall in 1951 and they were blessed with 5 children, Patricia (d), Phyllis, Sherrie (d), Charita, and Kenneth. A. B. Hall was always characterized as hard-working, diligent, and tried to instill a positive work ethic into his family. In this era, with a family to take care of and mouths to feed, one job was never enough. So he held several jobs - In the early years, he was a construction worker, a parking lot attendant, waited on tables, and ran a dry-cleaning service. Later on, he would be a truck driver, a cab driver, a recycler, and a real estate investor. And after working 28 years as a truck driver for Super Value Foods, he retired in June of 1989.
Reverend Hall had a passion for baseball and between the years of 1948 and 1958 he is listed in the record books as having played in the old Negro League – with a team known as the Atlanta Crackers. He is listed as playing 1st base and pitching. He would later catch and even umpire games. Truly a man of many talents.
Reverend Hall also dedicated himself to service and civic duties. He was a master Mason for the W.C. Thomas Lodge # 112- and was a lifelong Gold Member since 1951, joining at the age of 22. But by far, the most joy from service was when he joined Shiloh Baptist Church in 1961. He was on the Usher Board, sang in the choir, served as trustee, and became a deacon and later he became chairman of that body.
As a member and Deacon Board Chairman, he helped lead the church moving from Beckwith Street to its present location on Westview Drive. And he was there for the successful transition of church leadership from Reverend Gresham to Reverend Sims, to the present pastor, Reverend Phillip R.A. Spann. He was called to preach and went on to study at Carver Bible Institute and College where he earned his Certificate in Theology and was ordained a minister in 1995.
Reverend Hall leaves quite a legacy as a leader, teacher, preacher and servant. He is survived by his sister, Elizabeth McCory and is preceded in death by his 7 brothers and 1 sister. He leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews. He leaves to mourn three children, Phyllis Brown (Clyde (d)), Charita (Ronnie), and Kenneth (Lucia), five grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, and scores of extended family members and friends.
“Well Done my good and faithful servant”
