Mrs. Elayne Bell
Mrs. Elayne Bush Bell, of Decatur, Georgia transitioned to eternal peace on May 11, 2019. Her beloved husband, Dr. Charles M. Bell preceded her in death in 2010. An Atlanta native, Elayne Bell was the daughter of the late Mary T. and William E. Bush, the sister of the William E. Bush, II and Leonard Bush both of who preceded her in death and granddaughter of Kizzie Elizabeth Roberson Wright. Elayne Bell learned from her parents the value of living a Christian life and the need to obtain a quality education.
Elayne B. Bell graduated from the Atlanta Public School system and was awarded a musical scholarship to Spelman College where she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1951. She furthered her education attending school at then Atlanta University and San Diego State University. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. now joining the Ivies Beyond the Wall and Phi Delta Kappa Sorority, Inc. - an educational sorority and life member of the National Alumnae Association of Spelman College. At her death Ms. Bell was member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Atlanta and while living in San Diego was member of Christian Fellowship Congregational Church, UCC where she served as the Moderator.
Keeping loving memory of Elayne Bush Bell (affectionately known as Ambuya by her grandchildren) are her daughters, Valerie Ann Johnson and Debra Elaine Johnson; grandchildren, Kamaria, Mason, and Camille; niece and nephew Sandra and Leonard Bush, sister-in-love Emma Bush; daughter-in-love Lynda Edwards; sister friends - Sorors Shirley Logan and Roz Sutton and Mardell Brown; and cousin Delia Postell as well as her other numerous cousins and friends.
Service to Celebrate the Life of Elayne Bush Bell will be held on Friday, May 24th at 1pm at First Congregational Church, UCC; 105 Courtland St. Atlanta GA 30303, with Dr. Dwight Andrews, pastor, officiating. An Ivy Beyond the Wall Ceremony of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. will be held at 12 noon prior to the memorial service also at the church.
