Mrs. Florence Jamison McCamey of Atlanta, passed August 15, 2016.  Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Providence Missionary Baptist Church, 2295 Benjamin E. Mays Dr., SW, Rev. Dr. Damon P. Williams, Pastor with Rev. Dr. Richard W. Wills, Sr., Pastor of Friendship Baptist Church, officiating.  Entombment, Lincoln Cemetery.  The remains will be placed in state at the church at 10 a.m. 

The Omega Service of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. will be held on Friday (08/19/16) at our chapel at 6 p.m., followed by the visitation from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Family and friends are requested to assemble at the church at 10:30 a.m.

Florence Jamerson McCamey a native of Macon, Georgia was born on August 10, 1934. She passed away at the age of 82, August 15, 2016 after declining health and a brief hospitalization.

She was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, friend and a school teacher for over 40 years.

Florence was a graduate of Clark College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education, a Master of Arts degree in Learning Disabilities from Atlanta University and Educational Specialist certification in Leadership from Georgia State University.

Along with her teaching experience, she worked as a Merchandiser for American Greetings.

Florence was a long standing member of Friendship Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess, Usher, in the Uplifters Club and the Service Guild. She was an enthusiastic Life member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and 23rd. Basileus of Epsilon Zeta chapter. She was a Girl Scout Leader for many years and touched the lives of many children in various ways. She traveled extensively throughout the United States, Caribbean and all 7 continents except the Antarctica.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. & Mrs. A. H. Jamerson and sister Josephine Jamerson. Florence’s survivors’ include two sons, Jonathan DeKoven McCamey (Marilyn) of Burien, Washington and Jamerson Dean McCamey of Atlanta, GA: Goddaughter, Ruby Regina Hall of Atlanta, GA; four grandchildren, Victor C. Hall III, Jonathan DeKoven McCamey Jr., Alexis Victoria McCamey, Jamerson Dean McCamey Jr.; brother, Angus Jamerson (Doris) of Villa Rica, GA; sister, Betsy Quinn of Macon, GA; sister in law, Linda M. Russell Hill; brother in law, Gregory J. Russell; two nieces Rita Hutchins and Wendy Jamerson; cherished friend Larry P. Dozier; and other nieces, nephews and cousins.
