Eugeny E. Malliet passed away in Decatur, Georgia on Saturday, March 25, 2017.
The Celebration of Life for Eugeny E. Malliet will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 11:00AM in the chapel of Carl M. Williams Funeral Directors, Inc., 492 Larkin Street, Southwest with Reverend Troy Sanders, pastor of Rehoboth Fellowship of Atlanta, officiating. The family will receive friends on the morning of the service from 9:30AM - 10:45AM.
Eugeny (Gene) was one of six children born to Henry and Louise Hutchinson in Lucky Hill, St. Mary Parish, Jamaica. She attended Goshen School and then went to Kingston to study accounting and work for several companies until she immigrated to the United States in the 1960s. She joined family members in New York City and became an accountant for the Woolworth Company until she retired. Again to join family members, she relocated to Georgia in the 1990s.
Gene was the baker in the family who loved to make her special Jamaican pudding, fruitcake and bun. The family looked forward to her special touch and tastes for weddings and holidays. She also enjoyed mixing ginger beer and sorrel and serving it to family, friends, coworkers and neighbors as they visited.
Gene was deeply spiritual often citing scripture and bible based poems of wisdom. She was a supportive and loving family member who will be sorely missed by all.
She leaves to mourn her passing sisters: Grace Wright and Dr. Joyce (Chet) Craft. Her brothers, Henry, Herbert, Keeling and sister Margaret preceded her in death. Her sisters, Grace and Margaret and niece, Annette Wright were her loving caregivers as she aged and in her final days.
She leaves numerous beloved nieces and nephews, several great and great-great nieces and nephews, relatives and lifelong friends; all of whom will deeply miss her.
