Dr. Dorsey was a great human being. I became a better scholar under his tutelage, More importantly, he was a wonderful mentor. He will be missed but not forgotten.

It is difficult to tell you how deeply I feel about David's untimely death. During the many years I knew him I often thought of him as my own father. David was a wonderful person who always did more than was expect of him. He made this world a little better for me and for all the others who knew him. It was a privilege to have known him so well, and I will never forget his thoughtfulness and kindness. With great personal sorrow, I ask to share your loss and to extend my deepest and heartfelt sympathy. GOD BLESS.

To The Family, It is sad to lose a loved one to death. There is no comfort in death ,only grief. Almighty God understands that and he is going to eliminate it forever( Revelations 21:4). What a wonderful future blessing for obedient mankind. Please take comfort in knowing this scripture will be fulfilled.

You have my deepest sympathy and condolences in the loss of your loved one. Jehovah God made a promise to us all at Revelation 21:3-4 states, And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. Very soon now, we will never experience losing our loved ones in death.

I am saddened by the passing of my professor and friend, Dr. David F. Dorsey. I learned so much from him; in fact, most of what I know of African and Caribbean literatures is due to his teaching and his careful prodding for wide reading and scholarly inquiry. He was smart, kind, witty, and hospitable. While I was a student, we lived in the same apartment complex, and so I had the honor to know him on a more social level than might have been otherwise possible. I offer the family my sincere condolences, and I wish for Dr. Dorsey the rest he has earned. Warren J. Carson, Ph.D., Tryon, NC.
